Planning a pickup

Flexible pickup or a reserved arrival window: which fits your project?

Compare JunkPDX flexible route requests with standard arrival-window bookings. Choose around your deadline, access and confirmation needs.

The right pickup option depends on how much freedom you have with the visit. A garage clearout that can wait is different from an apartment pickup tied to a building reservation. Before choosing timing, identify when the items must leave and when someone can provide access and approve the work.

JunkPDX offers standard bookings with available two-hour arrival windows. Through PNW’s Empty Seat page, you can also request flexible timing so the local crew can check nearby route space. Both options currently concern Portland–Vancouver service performed by Solely Junk LLC’s own crew.

Separate a preferred date from a required deadline

Write down your latest workable pickup date, any hours when entry is unavailable, and the next task that depends on removal. Be specific about a landlord handover, furniture delivery or elevator reservation. This gives the crew something useful to assess instead of a general request for service soon.

For a firm deadline, review standard availability and explain the dependency before relying on a visit. A reserved arrival window describes expected arrival, not a guaranteed finishing time. Ask whether the project’s size and access can fit your plan.

Understand what each option confirms

A standard booking lets you select an available window. For eligible standard bookings, a receipt marked “Booking confirmed” reserves that window. “Request received” or “Under review” still needs crew confirmation. Specialty work, moving labor, combined services and restricted materials require review before scheduling.

Flexible timing gives the crew permission to look for an opening that fits your address, items and deadline. Submitting that request does not reserve an appointment. The crew checks real capacity and contacts you if an opening fits; you then confirm the proposed arrival window.

A narrow access periodStandard availability and the building’s access requirements
A fixed handover deadlineCrew review of arrival and project duration before relying on the visit

Compare two everyday decisions

Suppose several garage items can leave any day next week, and an adult is available most afternoons. A flexible request may suit that household. Include the real deadline and any unavailable dates. Keep the items accessible while the crew reviews the request, without treating submission as a scheduled visit.

Now suppose an apartment elevator is available only during a reserved period. That constraint needs discussion before selecting a visit. Check standard availability, share the reservation details and confirm a workable arrangement. A two-hour arrival window alone does not establish how long removal will take or whether the elevator reservation is sufficient.

Confirm the window and scope before making arrangements

For either option, provide the full item list, photos, address and access restrictions. If the items or access change while you wait, update the crew. More furniture, a heavier item or a changed loading location can affect whether the project fits the reviewed route.

Flexible timing does not guarantee a discount. Price still depends on the items, access and disposal requirements. JunkPDX’s onsite estimate is free and has no obligation; you approve the final scope and total before loading. Regional Empty Seat matching remains in development, and Seattle and Boise customer booking is closed.

Common questions

Does a flexible request reserve a pickup?

No. The JunkPDX crew checks whether a nearby route opening fits and contacts you if it does. Confirm the proposed arrival window before making arrangements.

Does spare truck space mean a lower price?

A route opening does not guarantee a discount. Your final price depends on the reviewed items, access and disposal requirements and is approved onsite before loading.
