Planning a pickup
How a free junk removal estimate and haul-away visit works
Understand JunkPDX’s free onsite estimate: arrival windows, photo ranges, price approval and when the crew can haul away items during the same visit.
A junk removal estimate should help you decide whether to proceed. With JunkPDX, the onsite estimate is free and has no obligation. The crew reviews what needs to go, confirms access and explains the total before removal begins. You approve the work before the crew lifts or loads your items.
For a suitable project, the estimate and approved haul-away can happen on the same visit. That means an estimate appointment can become a completed pickup after your approval; it does not mean every request qualifies for immediate removal or every booking is available the same day.
Share the items and access before the visit
Start with the pickup address, an item list and photos if available. Include the path from the items to the truck, along with stairs, parking limits, gate codes and tight access. Photos can help with a rough price range, but they may not show weight, hidden items or every handling requirement.
Suppose you want a sofa and several boxes removed from an apartment. Explain the floor, elevator access, loading location and any building appointment rules. That information helps the crew assess the visit before arriving. Keep personal possessions clearly separate from the removal pile.
Read the confirmation for your appointment
JunkPDX offers available two-hour arrival windows for standard bookings. Your confirmation contains the appointment details. An arrival window describes when the crew is expected to arrive; it does not describe how long every cleanout will take.
For eligible standard bookings, a receipt marked “Booking confirmed” reserves the selected arrival window. “Request received” or “Under review” means crew confirmation is still needed. Flexible timing, moving labor, combined services, specialty work and restricted materials require review before scheduling.
Walk through the full scope with the crew
Show everything that needs to leave before the estimate is finalized. Explain which items stay, which rooms are included and any access restrictions that were difficult to capture in photos. Someone who can authorize the work should be available.
Ask the crew to confirm the included work and total. If you decide not to proceed, the onsite estimate itself has no obligation. If the scope works for you, approve it before lifting or loading starts.
- Identify every item included in the estimate.
- Confirm collection locations and access.
- Ask about any special handling or material limitations.
- Approve the final scope and price before removal.
Approve any changes before additional work
Once approved, the crew can load and haul the agreed items during the same visit for a suitable job. Larger projects, unexpected materials or work outside the original plan may need another arrangement. Confirm that plan with the crew before assuming everything can leave immediately.
If you remember an extra dresser halfway through the visit, ask for the revised scope and total first. Treat newly added rooms or materials the same way. After the pickup, retain your booking details, payment instructions and agreed changes so any follow-up has a clear reference.
Common questions
Is an estimate booking a commitment to purchase removal?
No. JunkPDX’s onsite estimate is free and has no obligation. You review the final scope and total, then decide whether to approve removal.
Can the crew remove my items during the estimate visit?
Yes, for a suitable project after you approve the scope and price. Specialty work, restricted materials or a changed scope may require review or another arrangement.
