Identify the display and who controls it
Record the display type, quantity, dimensions, and owner. Vendor-provided branded stands, leased cabinets, landlord fixtures, and retailer-owned units can require different release decisions. Check return obligations before disposal and keep merchandise, samples, and promotional materials separate until the store decides their destination through its inventory process.
For a planning example, a seasonal campaign change might replace six freestanding cardboard displays while retaining vendor-owned illuminated cabinets. Those are distinct categories even if both carry the same brand. Describe each approved display clearly so a store associate cannot add an excluded cabinet simply because the campaign has ended.
Describe materials and attachments accurately
Photograph the full display, base, mounting points, and any connections. Note glass panels, dense bases, metal frames, composite boards, or large surfaces that affect handling. A lightweight promotional stand differs substantially from a glass showcase or stone-topped counter, even when both occupy the same amount of retail floor space.
Wired lighting, security devices, wall attachments, overhead elements, and fixed cabinetry need specific review. Ordinary hauling does not establish electrical disconnection, elevated removal, construction work, or specialist glass handling. If another provider prepares the fixture, describe its resulting condition and loose components before the removal request is finalized.
Resolve branding and information requirements separately
Ask the owner whether logos, product messaging, or embedded devices need a specific treatment before release. A hauling pickup does not promise certified product destruction or control of every downstream outcome. If a contractual branding or confidentiality obligation applies, obtain an independently confirmed process and documentation suitable for that requirement.
Empty cabinets and check drawers, shelves, bases, and hidden compartments for merchandise, keys, tablets, payment devices, and paperwork. Separate batteries, aerosols, liquids, chemicals, and unknown contents from ordinary display material. Do not fold uncertain contents into a mixed fixture pile on the assumption that a closed cabinet makes them irrelevant.
Plan the shop-floor exit and final approval
Share the route through public areas, stockrooms, service corridors, and the permitted loading point. Confirm center management rules and keep required exits open. If displays remain on the floor until trading ends, identify who releases them and provides access; an after-hours preference still needs scheduling and site confirmation.
Pricing reflects approved volume, weight, access, and labor, with final onsite approval before loading begins. PNW currently reviews Portland–Vancouver requests through JunkPDX and is not open in Seattle or Boise. Check completion against the display list, recording retained units and excluded components without implying stock auditing, certified destruction, or installation of replacements.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Can branded displays be guaranteed destroyed?
No certified-destruction outcome should be assumed from ordinary hauling. If your contract requires it, seek a separately confirmed service and documentation before deciding how to release the displays.
Are hanging promotional fixtures included?
They need separate review of height, attachments, access, and required equipment or trade work. A request for freestanding displays does not establish capability or authorization to remove overhead fixtures.
Can broken glass stay inside the display cabinet?
Disclose the condition before review and follow an appropriate handling plan. Do not conceal damaged glass or ask staff to improvise packaging; acceptance depends on the actual material and handling requirements.
