Share customer details with a clear purpose and permission

A customer referral should explain who will receive the information, why it is being shared, and how the customer wants to be contacted. Obtain permission before passing along personal details or photos. Keep the handoff limited to the service request and separate it from any assumption that the customer has booked or approved removal.

Offer the customer a clear choice

A partner can give the customer contact information so they initiate the request themselves, or offer an introduction with their permission. Explain those choices in ordinary language. The customer should understand whether you are merely suggesting a service, asking someone to contact them, or helping submit details for review; these are different actions with different expectations.

A practical question is whether the customer wants their name, preferred contact details, service city, and removal summary shared with PNWJunkRemoval for a hauling review. Be specific about photos if you intend to send them. Avoid vague permission to share everything with partners, especially when the customer believes they are speaking only to the referring business.

Send the smallest useful record

For most initial handoffs, the receiving team needs the service location, a description of the proposed removal, relevant access details, and the authorized contact. It does not need a full customer history, financial file, medical background, or unrelated account notes. If sensitive context seems important, first consider whether a simple operational instruction would serve the same purpose.

Review photos before sharing. A room picture may contain mail, account numbers, family photographs, screens, or people who are unrelated to the request. Ask the customer for a cleaner image or omit unnecessary images where possible. Permission to use photos for a service review should not be treated as permission to publish them in marketing or public case studies.

Respect the chosen communication path

Record whether the customer prefers a call, a message, or another contact arrangement that the receiving process can actually support. If the partner remains involved, explain their role to everyone. Do not copy extra parties on updates merely because they participated earlier; confirm who should receive information about the removal scope, access, and completion.

If the customer withdraws the request or changes their contact preference, communicate that through the agreed process promptly. Avoid repeatedly forwarding the same details to additional providers without a new, clear basis for doing so. An introduction should reduce confusion about who is contacting the customer rather than create several unexpected conversations from unrelated businesses.

Separate permission from service approval

Permission to share contact information does not approve a price, disposal scope, or pickup appointment. The actual service review still needs the responsible customer’s direction. For example, an organizer may have permission to send garage photos but no authority to approve removal of unmarked boxes. Keep those decisions distinct in the record and in what the customer is told.

PNWJunkRemoval is operated by Solely Junk LLC, with Portland–Vancouver active through JunkPDX. Seattle is recruiting and Boise is developing, with no confirmed jobs there. Before activating a partner process, agree who receives requests and what follow-up is available. KEEP THIS WITH YOUR PROJECT NOTES

Before you take the next step

  1. Explain the receiving organization and purpose of the introduction.
  2. Ask which contact details, service facts, and photos may be shared.
  3. Remove private records and unrelated people from shared material.
  4. Record the customer’s preferred contact path and permitted update recipients.
  5. Keep contact permission separate from booking and disposal approval.

Save a text checklist with space for the address, timing and approval contact. Downloading does not submit or book a pickup.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Details worth settling early

Is a referral enough permission to share a customer file?

No. Ask for clear permission and limit sharing to the details needed for the proposed service review. A referral should not become unrestricted transfer of a file containing private records or information unrelated to hauling.

Can the same photos be used in marketing afterward?

Do not assume so. Service-review permission and promotional use are different purposes. Obtain appropriate separate permission before using customer images publicly, and avoid exposing addresses, documents, faces, or other private information.

What if the customer wants to contact the network directly?

Give them the appropriate contact or request path and let them control the introduction. You can offer a concise written scope summary for them to share without transmitting their information independently.
