Freeze the inventory before planning removal
After the sale, walk the property with the person authorized to direct the remaining contents. A price tag does not mean an item is abandoned, and an empty display area does not establish what is left upstairs or in storage. Record unsold furniture, loose contents, and any oversized pieces by room or distinct area.
Keep a separate hold area for paid purchases awaiting collection and family keepsakes awaiting a decision. Label that area plainly and tell everyone involved that it is outside the removal scope. If a buyer misses a pickup deadline, the sale company and customer should resolve the item’s status before adding it to the hauling list.
Resolve donation questions early
Do not assume every unsold item can be donated. Condition, receiving hours, current acceptance rules, and transportation arrangements can affect the destination. The customer should decide whether an item may be disposed of if a preferred organization declines it. That decision belongs in the scope conversation, not in an improvised choice at the loading truck.
An illustrative handoff might divide one room into family keeps, buyer holds, a separately confirmed donation collection, and approved removal. Explain which party is responsible for each group. Avoid promising donation receipts, resale proceeds, or a particular diversion outcome unless the receiving organization and the actual service arrangement support those promises.
Coordinate the property and the sale team
Give the provider a realistic picture of what access will look like after sale fixtures, tables, and signage are removed. Include stairs, narrow landings, available parking, and any restricted building hours. A clear route at the end of the sale can materially change the work needed compared with photos taken during a crowded public event.
Identify who will be present for scope approval and who can answer questions about locked rooms, sheds, or unmarked boxes. Family papers, valuables, and sensitive records should be reviewed before removal. If the customer cannot finish sorting, reduce the agreed scope to clearly approved material instead of treating the entire property as ready.
Document what remains after hauling
Request a completion note that names any areas left untouched and items held at the customer’s direction. This avoids confusing a deliberate hold with an incomplete pickup. Where photos are authorized, focus on cleared areas and exceptions. The sale company can then release its responsibilities without implying that a hauling crew completed appraisal, probate, or specialist cleaning work.
PNWJunkRemoval, operated by Solely Junk LLC, currently has active Portland–Vancouver service through JunkPDX. Seattle is recruiting and Boise is developing, with no confirmed jobs there. Partner coordination must be agreed before use; this guide does not establish an automatic referral workflow or guarantee that a particular date or provider will be available.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Can hauling begin while buyers are still collecting items?
Only a carefully separated scope should be considered. The customer and sale team need clear boundaries between approved removal and purchased goods, plus a safe access plan that does not depend on crews guessing which items are sold.
Does an estate sale referral establish disposal authority?
No. Identify the person authorized to direct the contents and obtain a clear approved scope. A sale coordinator’s referral alone should not be treated as permission to dispose of everything remaining at the property.
Can the crew sort valuables during the pickup?
Do not assume appraisal or detailed sorting is included. Ask the customer to review personal documents, keepsakes, and potentially valuable items beforehand, and discuss any unresolved sorting needs before the service scope is confirmed.
