Plan an Apartment Turnover Cleanout

JunkPDX can help remove unwanted furniture and household junk from an apartment turnover in the Portland–Vancouver service area. Identify which items may be removed, arrange building access and book an onsite estimate. The crew handles the approved lifting, loading and hauling.

Clear the unit for its next chapter

Keep retained belongings clearly marked and make sure the person approving removal has authority to do so. Tell the crew about stairs, elevators and loading rules when booking.

Planning example: for a unit with a couch, mattress and loose household items, group the approved loose items and leave the bulky pieces for the crew. Removal clears the agreed belongings; arrange cleaning or repairs separately unless expressly included.

Define the unit boundary

Walk the apartment with a room list and record what belongs to the property, what is designated for removal, and what still needs a decision. Installed appliances, window coverings, keys, and maintenance supplies deserve explicit instructions. An empty looking cabinet is still worth checking before a unit is handed over.

Get confirmation from the person authorized to direct removal. A vacant apartment does not, by itself, establish that everything inside can be discarded. If ownership or tenant instructions are unresolved, mark those items as pending and keep them outside the approved hauling scope until the responsible person resolves the question.

Plan the route through the building

Share the floor, stair count, elevator dimensions if available, and distance to a usable loading position. Ask the building contact about elevator reservations, entry codes, door restrictions, and parking arrangements. A clear photograph of the hallway can be more useful than a close up of one bag.

Coordinate the unit and common area separately. A couch in a corridor may not belong to the same turnover, and a maintenance cart should never become part of the load by assumption. Identify who will keep the route available while the crew assesses the work and obtains onsite price approval.

Sequence the other turnover work

Book the cleanout ahead of activities that need open floors or empty closets. Painting, repairs, and cleaning may have different access needs, so share the expected sequence without promising another contractor a completion time you have not confirmed. Leave room for a changed scope or an unavailable elevator.

Planning example: a one bedroom unit has furniture to remove, replacement blinds to retain, and flooring boxes staged by maintenance. Use three labeled zones, send the furniture photos for review, and keep the materials in a closed room. Give the flooring contractor a handoff only after the removal is complete.

Approve scope and document the handoff

PNWJunkRemoval is a regional managed network operated by Solely Junk LLC. Current service is through JunkPDX in the Portland–Vancouver area, subject to the ZIP, address, and scope check. Share the full unit inventory; volume, weight, access, and labor affect pricing, with the final price approved onsite before loading.

At completion, compare the empty spaces with the approved list and identify any retained or excluded items. Save a short handoff note for the next person entering the unit. Ordinary nonhazardous hauling does not include a promise of repair, pest treatment, biohazard cleanup, or making an unsafe unit ready for occupancy.

KEEP THIS WITH YOUR PROJECT NOTES

Before you take the next step

  1. Confirm who can authorize disposal.
  2. Label building fixtures and supplies to retain.
  3. Photograph every room and the loading route.
  4. Reserve building access through the property contact.
  5. Name the person approving the onsite price.

Save a text checklist with space for the address, timing and approval contact. Downloading does not submit or book a pickup.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Details worth settling early

Can removal start while ownership is disputed?

Keep disputed belongings out of the removal scope. The authorized property contact needs to resolve what may be removed before the crew is directed to load those items.

Should cleaners arrive at the same time?

Separate appointments usually make the handoff clearer. Confirm the cleanout schedule first, then arrange cleaning around the actual condition and remaining work in the unit.

Are Seattle apartment turnovers available?

Seattle and Boise intake are not open. Current work is reviewed for Portland–Vancouver service through JunkPDX; an individual address and scope still need confirmation.
