Give every item a clear destination
Ask the customer to create a remove list that is separate from the mover’s shipment inventory. A colored sticker can help, but use written item descriptions and room locations as well. Distinguish furniture being delivered to a new home from furniture that will remain for a buyer, landlord, or another household member after the move.
For example, a customer may want an old sofa removed while a matching chair goes on the moving truck. Do not use broad directions such as everything in the living room unless that scope has been checked immediately before work. Sorting decisions should be made by the customer rather than delegated informally between two crews.
Choose an order that fits the property
A pickup before moving day can create space and reduce confusion, while a later pickup may capture unwanted items discovered during packing. The better order depends on customer readiness, available service, and building access. Treat a requested sequence as a planning preference until both appointments and their individual arrival arrangements have actually been confirmed.
Tell each coordinator about shared elevators, reserved loading areas, narrow driveways, and restrictions on simultaneous vehicles. Two independently scheduled crews may be unable to use the same loading position at once. The customer should identify who controls reservations and who will communicate when the route is available, particularly at apartments or managed commercial buildings.
Keep service responsibilities separate
Ordinary nonhazardous hauling does not establish full-service moving, cargo coverage, furniture installation, or the transport of customer possessions to another address. A moving company should retain responsibility for its own shipment and agreed services. Any request to relocate a kept item needs separate review rather than being folded casually into the junk-removal handoff.
Ask the customer to remove identification documents, keys, medication, valuables, and packed personal belongings from the removal area. If a box is not clearly approved, stop and ask. Dismantling a large item, carrying it through a tight stairwell, or addressing an unusually heavy object can alter the work and should be discussed before a crew arrives.
Finish with a shared understanding of exceptions
At completion, record what was removed and what remains for the customer or moving company. If a large item could not be safely handled within the agreed scope, identify it explicitly so the mover does not assume it has disappeared. Use customer-approved photos where helpful, avoiding labels that reveal destination addresses or other unnecessary personal information.
PNWJunkRemoval is a managed regional network operated by Solely Junk LLC, with Portland–Vancouver active through JunkPDX. Seattle is recruiting and Boise is developing. Confirm the location and practical handoff process before sending a customer. A partner relationship does not create automatic scheduling, integrated moving services, or guaranteed capacity on a busy moving day.
KEEP THIS WITH YOUR PROJECT NOTES
Before you take the next step
- Create a removal list separate from the moving shipment inventory.
- Mark kept items and possessions that will stay with the property.
- Confirm which crew uses the elevator or loading area first.
- Review oversized pieces and any proposed dismantling before arrival.
- Tell the customer and mover about every item left behind.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Can the removal crew take items to my new home?
Do not assume that transportation of possessions is included. Explain the request in advance so the appropriate service can be assessed separately. Junk removal and a moving shipment have different scopes and should remain clearly documented.
Should I book both crews for the same arrival window?
Only if the building access and the two confirmed service arrangements support it. Overlapping arrivals can cause blocked loading areas or item confusion. Give both coordinators accurate constraints before deciding on the order.
What if I discover more unwanted items during packing?
Set those items aside and request a scope review. Additional material may change the time, capacity, and price involved. Do not assume that a previously discussed pickup automatically includes everything found later.
