Describe the whole laundry setup
State whether you have separate machines, a stacked pair or an integrated laundry center. Photograph the front and accessible surroundings, including pedestals or storage drawers that are leaving. Include model details when convenient, but do not pull out a connected machine just to find its label.
Tell the team if the appliances are in a closet, on a raised platform or above another occupied room. Mention leaks, damaged feet or an unstable installation. If new appliances are arriving, describe the delivery timing without assuming the removal crew can also install or reposition replacements.
Confirm connection work before pickup
Identify water, drain, power, dryer vent and any gas connection when discussing the job. Ask who is responsible for disconnecting and preparing each machine. Do not attempt unfamiliar gas or electrical work to meet an appointment; arrange appropriate qualified assistance where needed.
Agree on what ready-for-hauling means for your installation. This may include confirmation that connections have been dealt with and the unit can be moved without affecting the home. Keep a contact available if preparation is incomplete so the crew can review options rather than improvise.
Plan the exit and the replacement handoff
Photograph the laundry-room door, hall turns, stairs and outside loading route. For stacked units, ask about separation and handling as part of scope review. Do not unstack heavy equipment on your own to simplify an estimate or assume a narrow stairway will be workable.
Allow a practical gap between old-appliance removal and the next scheduled task. A two-hour arrival window is not a guaranteed completion time. If a delivery team also offers haul-away, check whether it covers disconnected machines only, stairs and both appliances before comparing the options.
Approve the full appliance list
List pedestals, an old utility cart or other approved items separately so they are not mistaken for things that stay. Discuss access and handling with the crew before approving the onsite estimate. Additional work or items need agreement rather than being added after loading begins.
Check your ZIP for current JunkPDX coverage in Portland–Vancouver. Photos can help establish a rough range, while the final price depends on the actual items and conditions onsite. Standard hauling can often follow approval on the same visit when the equipment is ready and the scope fits.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Does removal include installing the new washer?
Installation is a separate task unless explicitly agreed with a qualified service provider. Describe the removal request without assuming replacement installation is included.
Can a stacked pair be removed together?
The team needs to review the equipment, access and handling plan. Share photos before the appointment instead of assuming it can be carried as one unit.
What if the appliances are still connected?
Tell the booking team what remains connected. Confirm preparation responsibilities before the visit; hauling should not depend on unplanned utility work at arrival.
