Identify the material before planning removal
Describe the source, type, and current condition of the material proposed for pickup. Furniture from an unaffected room is a different request from debris associated with a damaged building assembly. Give the reviewing provider the relevant information available from the responsible project party, and disclose uncertainties rather than simplifying the request to household junk.
Do not assume the hauling provider can assess contamination, perform remediation, or classify regulated materials. Suspected asbestos, lead-related debris, sewage contamination, chemicals, and similar concerns need appropriate specialist review and handling. A referral should never transfer an unresolved material question to the arriving crew simply because the material has already been bagged or placed outside.
Separate project responsibilities
State which party performs demolition, disconnection, treatment, containment, cleaning, and any required clearance or release of the work area. Ordinary hauling begins only within its accepted scope. The removal request should not imply that the network is supervising the restoration project, certifying safety, or taking responsibility for work carried out by another company.
For example, a restoration coordinator may request removal of separately approved, ordinary nonhazardous furniture after a specialist finishes its own work. The handoff should identify that specific furniture and the available access route. It should not expand to building debris from a contained area without a fresh review of material, access, and the provider’s capabilities.
Plan access around active restoration work
Describe whether the property is occupied, whether trades are still present, and which paths the crew may use. Identify any restricted areas and the person authorized to explain site rules. A route crossing containment, unstable surfaces, exposed services, or unresolved damage should not be assumed available merely because it is the shortest path to the truck.
Provide current photos with the customer’s permission, focusing on the approved material and access. State whether debris has been moved since those photos were taken. Confirm who can review scope changes and who will be present if the observed condition differs. Any pause or specialist referral should be coordinated before affected material is disturbed further.
Keep the closeout specific to hauling
A completion record should identify the accepted items removed, any excluded material, and any issue that prevented completion. Avoid wording that certifies the property is restored, sanitized, or ready for occupancy. The restoration company and responsible specialists retain their separate project duties; the hauling handoff should make its own outcome clear without overreaching.
PNWJunkRemoval is a managed network operated by Solely Junk LLC. Portland–Vancouver is active through JunkPDX, while Seattle is recruiting and Boise is developing. A proposed trade partnership must be reviewed before activation. No nationwide specialist response, automated dispatch, insurance coordination, or guaranteed project date is established by this guide.
KEEP THIS WITH YOUR PROJECT NOTES
Before you take the next step
- Identify the material source, condition, and all unresolved concerns.
- Keep demolition, remediation, containment, and clearance responsibilities explicit.
- Confirm the approved route avoids restricted or unresolved work areas.
- Name the person who can authorize a changed hauling scope.
- Document removed items and exclusions without certifying restoration outcomes.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Does restoration debris always qualify for ordinary hauling?
No. Its condition and composition matter. Explain the actual material and any contamination concerns before review. Regulated or specialist work must remain with appropriately qualified services rather than being assumed within an ordinary junk-removal request.
Can the crew work inside a contained remediation area?
Do not assume that access or capability. The responsible project specialists must determine their own requirements, and the provider must review any proposed work separately. A standard hauling handoff should not bypass containment or unresolved site restrictions.
Can completion photos prove a property is safe to occupy?
No. They can document a hauling outcome, such as the removal of approved furniture. They do not establish remediation clearance, structural condition, indoor environmental quality, or compliance with the restoration project’s separate requirements.
