Identify the appliance and its location
Photograph the entire unit and include approximate height, width and depth if available. Mention whether it is built into cabinetry, sits on a platform or occupies a basement. A built-in appliance may require separate preparation before it becomes a freestanding item ready to haul.
Include a second freezer or other appliance in the inventory instead of assuming it can be added on arrival. Explain any broken doors, missing handles or loose shelving. Details about shape and condition help the crew review handling without asking you to move a heavy unit for photos.
Arrange food and connection preparation
Empty food and arrange its storage or disposal through your household plan before the agreed pickup. Ask what preparation is expected for frost or standing water, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not leave draining water where it could affect floors or the carrying route.
Tell the team whether the unit has an ice-maker or water connection. Confirm who will handle any required disconnection before hauling. Do not assume that plumbing, cabinetry changes or electrical work is part of removal, and use the appropriate qualified help for work you cannot safely perform.
Review doors, stairs and floor access
Show the kitchen opening, nearby island, hallway turns and exit door in photos. Appliance depth includes handles and projections, so share those details along with the route. Explain whether the unit was installed before cabinetry or another obstacle changed the available path.
Keep children and pets away from an appliance awaiting removal and avoid leaving it unattended in a shared area. Do not remove appliance doors or dismantle equipment simply to make the request look easier. Ask the crew which handling and access steps need advance coordination.
Ask what the estimate includes
Compare pickup arrangements using the same scope: inside collection, stairs, carrying distance and the number of appliances. Ask whether applicable material handling or disposal charges are included in the total. A photo range is useful for planning but does not replace the final onsite estimate.
JunkPDX currently serves eligible Portland–Vancouver ZIP codes through the PNW network. Tell the booking team about connection or access work that remains unfinished. The crew needs a workable scope and your approval of the final price before loading; specialty conditions may need review first.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Can the crew disconnect the water line?
Do not assume utility disconnection is included. Describe the connection before booking and confirm which preparation must be completed before the hauling visit.
What if the refrigerator does not fit the door?
Share the measurements and photos in advance. The crew must assess handling options; door removal, cabinet changes and other alterations are not automatically included.
Does the refrigerator have to work?
Describe its actual condition when requesting removal. Working condition may matter for reuse, while hauling eligibility also depends on access, materials and reviewed scope.
