Patio Furniture & Outdoor Item Pickup

Outdoor pickups often combine bulky furniture with smaller objects spread across a deck, side yard and garage. A useful plan groups the approved items without hiding their condition or blocking access. Separate ordinary furniture from equipment, fuel containers and attached structures, then ask the crew to review the actual removal list.

Build an outdoor item inventory

Count tables, chairs, benches, loungers, umbrellas and cushions. Describe heavy bases, glass tabletops and broken frames separately. Photos should show both the full patio and the individual pieces, especially anything partly hidden by covers or stacked behind other furniture.

Mark outdoor decorations, planters and gardening equipment that stay. Do not use “clear the patio” as permission to remove everything visible. If a planter is included, explain whether it still contains soil; a filled container can require a different handling plan from an empty pot.

Separate equipment from ordinary furniture

List grills, heaters, batteries, fuel containers and other equipment separately for acceptance review. Do not put unfamiliar materials inside furniture or closed storage boxes to combine the load. Describe contents honestly and ask which items need another arrangement before the appointment.

Attached awnings, built-in benches, fixed play structures and deck components are not simply loose patio furniture. Explain how an item is attached and ask about scope before dismantling anything. Ordinary hauling does not automatically include structural changes, utility work or taking apart equipment.

Plan gates, steps and weather exposure

Show the narrowest gate, deck stairs and route to the truck. Explain whether the crew must cross a lawn or use a shared side path. Mention soft ground, steep grades and overhead obstacles so the visit can be planned using the actual access rather than a front-door assumption.

Keep loose cushions and small approved parts together without placing heavy items on unstable piles. Ask about preparation if rain is expected. Do not block a walkway with a covered pile that conceals sharp or broken pieces; the crew needs to see what is being handled.

Agree on where the job ends

Confirm which items leave and what finish condition is included. Removing the agreed furniture is different from pressure washing a patio, repairing decking or clearing landscaping. Discuss loose debris explicitly instead of assuming every outdoor task is covered by the furniture estimate.

JunkPDX provides current service in eligible Portland–Vancouver areas. Share your outdoor inventory and access photos when planning the visit. Truck space, weight and handling affect the onsite estimate. Approve that scope and price before loading, and review any additional items you discover separately.

KEEP THIS WITH YOUR PROJECT NOTES

Before you take the next step

  1. Count furniture and photograph individual pieces.
  2. Identify glass, heavy bases and filled planters.
  3. Separate equipment and materials needing review.
  4. Show gates, deck steps and ground conditions.
  5. Agree on removal boundaries and finish condition.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Details worth settling early

Can the crew take everything in my outdoor shed too?

That is a separate scope to describe and review. Provide photos and an item list rather than assuming a patio estimate includes the shed contents or the structure.

Will patio removal include cleanup or repairs?

Agree on any included loose-debris collection before work begins. Pressure washing, landscaping and deck repairs should not be assumed part of a furniture pickup.

Do I need to move furniture to the driveway?

Discuss where the items are before moving them. In-place collection may be possible depending on gates, terrain, steps and the reviewed handling requirements.
