Create clear removal boundaries
Identify collection areas by room and describe exactly what goes from each one. A room being partially cleared should not be treated as emptying the entire room. Include furniture and containers that must stay in the inventory notes so their presence does not create ambiguity during the onsite review.
Use a simple keep, remove, and undecided system that everyone in the household understands. Resolve undecided items before the visit when possible. For illustration, a bedroom might have one broken dresser for removal while its remaining furniture and personal contents remain outside the approved scope.
Separate household decisions from loading
Ask residents to review their own belongings ahead of time and identify one person who can approve the final removal scope. The crew should not mediate different family preferences or decide whether unlabeled contents are disposable. Clear authority matters especially when several people share storage rooms.
Remove documents, keys, devices, medication, and other personal essentials from items you have already approved for removal, using your normal household organization process. If an item cannot be emptied or its contents remain uncertain, disclose that uncertainty rather than presenting it as ready and empty.
Plan the visit around daily use
Describe rooms and routes that must remain accessible for residents, along with any timing constraints. Coordinate pets and children through a responsible household adult and make their arrangements part of the preparation. These details help the reviewer understand how the property will be used during the visit.
If another provider, delivery, or household activity needs the same doorway or loading area, coordinate the sequence in advance. An arrival window describes expected arrival rather than completion, so avoid scheduling an immediate conflicting use of the space on the assumption the cleanout ends when that window ends.
Confirm what completion means
Before work begins, walk through every included area and confirm which items remain. Define the end of the job in terms of the accepted removal scope; ordinary hauling does not imply a separate cleaning, repair, or restoration service. Any additional requested work needs its own explicit review.
PNW currently coordinates reviewed ordinary nonhazardous hauling in Portland–Vancouver through JunkPDX, checking ZIP, address, and scope. Approve final pricing onsite before loading. After the accepted work, walk through the agreed areas with the inventory so household belongings and any intentionally deferred items are clearly accounted for.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Details worth settling early
Do I need to clear the entire room?
No such assumption should be made. Describe the specific items and access conditions, and identify belongings that remain so the reviewer can assess the actual partial cleanout.
Can I keep sorting while the crew loads?
Resolve decisions ahead of time where possible. If sorting changes the scope during the visit, discuss and approve the change before additional items are loaded.
Does removal include cleaning the room afterward?
Ordinary hauling does not establish a separate cleaning service. State any cleaning request independently and obtain confirmation rather than treating it as part of the removal appointment.
